My name is Kim. I live in rural Minnesota and I really need some help. Winter is coming and I am scared. We burn wood but our chain saw quit working (have been gathering sticks and scrap wood to burn thus far but running out of that) and I average about $60 every 2 weeks at my job. We get food stamps &amp; medical(embarrassing but so grateful for- only thing we qualify for without children) and I have a car that has problems but still works-thank God. Over the last few months I have spent most days travelling to my sisters house to help with my mother looking after my sisters 3 girls. Trying to make their lives as normal as we can. This has been hard, as each morning I have to get my kids to school first and then drive an hour to my sisters house ad do everything there too. After 8 weeks of being in hospital my sister has been released and diagnosed with a multiple personality disorder as well as her annorexia she has dealt with for the past 3 years. As you can imagine she is in need as a lot of support from the rest of the family. Being a single mum herself she has only got mum and dad and myself to help. Saying all this now I must get back to my situation. I am $1800 behind in my rent and face eviction, with nowhere to go at all. I am lucky that my landlord has given me a few weeks to pay this but have no way of saving any money towards it. I live from week to week as it is at the moment, just struggling to pay rent, household bills, food school expenses, etc etc. We have not had hot water here since April as tho hot water service broke and because I am behind in the rent I was hesitant to contact the landlord as I felt so bad. He has now been told and is willing to come and look at it and fix it but last month our gas was disconnected because I was behind in the bill. I have since caught up with the overdue gads bill and am now paying $40 a week to stay on top of it. The problem is I have to pay $100 to have the gas service reconnected. When you have no extra money each week coming up with even $100 dollars is impossible. We have been surving doing our cooking on my camping stove and boiling water for baths but as you can imagine it is very hard. My electrcity bill is also $500 dollars overdue and I am facing disconnection with power too. I also pay $40 a week on that now but it is taking awhile to catch up.<br />How do you ask someone you don&#39;t know for this finanicial help?? I am just hoping that there are some kind, generous people out there that are in a position to help me out. Our electric bill is over 1500 dollars, and they cut the power off onm us, we have a generator, but can only afford to run it enough to keep the fridge cold and microwave food for the kids afew times a day. I am a fulltime nursing student and have applied to many scholarships, grants, financial aide etc, and haven&#39;t gotten much help at all. I feel devastated and don&#39;t know what I&#39;m going to do to get through school the last year. I have a learning disability and that really takes all my time trying to keep up with courseload so it&#39;s extra hard for me, which nursing school is already EXTREMELY hard as it is. I usually spend 60 hours a week at school or studying which is a fulltime job in itself and cuts into my chances at having anytime left for a job. Added to all of that, where I live they are on a hiring freeze in the healthcare industry. I&#39;m 8 months away from graduation and I don&#39;t know how I&#39;m going to pay any bills, or buy groceries or even how I&#39;m going to have gas to get to school. I am very upset with how hard, financially, it is on medical students when there is such a nursing shortage! You would think they would make it soo easy and aeveryone would get help since the governement is the one who is saying there is such a huge shortage.
